Position available: Externships available for 4th year students (1-4 weeks)

Cottonwood Veterinary Clinic is an independently owned, AAHA accredited, companion animal practice located in Cheyenne, WY.    We are accepting applications for fourth year externships.

We completed a major renovation in early 2020 with four exam rooms and a spacious lobby.  We are proud to have digital radiography, digital dental radiography, ultrasound, IDEXX laboratory machines for in house blood work, tonometry, surgical laser, and therapeutic laser.

Mentorship is a priority at Cottonwood Veterinary Clinic.  We want to help you succeed and feel comfortable in our practice.   

Cheyenne is a town of approximately 60,000 people and is home to the Wyoming State Government and Warren Air Force Base.  We are a family friendly town with excellent schools and a safe environment.   Cheyenne has recently opened a small airport with service to Denver that is incredibly convenient.  We are 1.5 hours away from Denver and 30 minutes away from outdoor recreation areas that have great hiking, mountain biking, fishing and cross-country skiing.   We also host the largest outdoor rodeo each summer, Cheyenne Frontier Days.  This 10-day event is a little bit crazy but lots of fun.

You will be exposed to a wide variety of small animal cases. Responsibilities will range widely based on your experience including case work-ups, diagnostics, and soft-tissue surgery.  We are open Monday through Thursday 8AM-5PM and Friday 8AM-3PM.  We do not take after-hours call. We will be hiring for a veterinary position in the spring/summer of 2027, so this is an excellent opportunity to explore our practice for your future.
