Are you a veterinary student looking for a hands-on externship where you can build confidence, ask questions, and truly be part of the team?

Alpha Veterinary Care, a long-standing, privately owned small animal practice in Alpha, New Jersey, is offering 2 to 3-week externship opportunities for students who want real clinical exposure in a supportive, high-support environment.

This is more than shadowing. You will be encouraged to get involved, think through cases, and grow at your own pace alongside a dedicated team—including a 3:1 technician-to-doctor ratio and a lead team with decades of experience, that genuinely enjoys teaching.

What Your Experience Will Look Like

During your time with us, you can expect:

Exposure to a wide variety of small animal cases (with optional exposure to pocket pets, poultry, exotics, and small ruminants if interested)
Direct mentorship through complex casework, soft-tissue surgeries, and advanced diagnostics using our full IDEXX suite, digital X-ray, and in-house Ultrasonographer
Hands-on involvement in surgery and outpatient appointments based on your comfort level and clinical goals
A structured workflow featuring dedicated, full surgery days so you can focus on procedures without rushing to meet afternoon appointments
Insight into both high-quality traditional medicine and integrative care, including on-site animal physical therapy, chiropractic work, and acupuncture
