About this role

Urgent Care Veterinarian (Full or Part-Time) | No Overnights | Heart & Soul Animal Urgent Care | Portland, OR

The full spectrum of GP to ER medicine, with no overnights and a team that has your back.

Heart & Soul Animal Urgent Care is a locally owned practice in Northeast Portland. We provide high-quality, same-day care for sick and injured pets. Our cases span the full spectrum from general practice to emergency, so no two shifts look the same. We close at 7 p.m., which means you get the variety and challenge of emergency medicine without overnight shifts.

We’re looking for a full- or part-time veterinarian who enjoys urgent care medicine and wants to work with a team that values kindness, collaboration, and clinical excellence.

The work

  • A caseload that spans the full spectrum from GP to ER: ear infections and itchy skin, vomiting and diarrhea, lacerations and bite wounds, and true emergencies such as dyspnea, hemoabdomen, HBC, DKA, and GI foreign bodies. Average of 10 patients per doctor per shift.
  • Digital radiology, point-of-care ultrasound (AFAST/TFAST), and an in-house diagnostic laboratory
  • 2 DVMs and 4-5 credentialed/experienced technicians, with a support ratio of about 2-3 techs per doctor
  • Thoughtful medicine and clear communication. We help clients understand their options and feel supported throughout their pet’s care.

Schedule

  • Open 7 days a week, 9 a.m.–7 p.m. No overnights.
  • Full-time: three or four 10-hour shifts per week
  • Part-time: 1-2 shifts per week

Compensation and benefits

  • ProSal compensation: a base salary of $130,000 to 150,000 plus 22% of production (grows with time)
  • CE Allowance
  • Sick Pay and accrued PTO
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with 4% match
  • Paid licensure and dues
  • Employee pet care discounts

A workplace where your voice matters
We believe we care best for others when we care for each other. That means respect, shared knowledge, and asking for help without hesitation. Regular team meetings, individual check-ins, and mentorship run both ways: we want to hear your ideas, understand your goals, and learn how to support you. We’re building a practice where kindness and accountability go hand in hand, and where people feel appreciated, included, and comfortable being themselves.
