The Myhre Equine Clinic Externship Program offers an immersive, hands-on experience (depending on abilities of the students) for students eager to dive into the world of high-level equine veterinary medicine. Designed to accommodate learners at every stage—from high school students exploring career paths to veterinary and technician students refining their clinical skills. Participants gain a unique perspective on the dedication and precision required to provide quality care to equine companions in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Throughout the externship, students are integrated into the daily flow of the hospital, gaining exposure to everything from routine basic care to complex surgical interventions. The time spent will cover a wide array of clinical areas, including diagnostic imaging, comprehensive examination workups, and emergency protocols. Beyond observation, externs may develop foundational skills such as safe equine handling and restraint, performing physical examinations, and monitoring vital parameters.
